FIFAe announces a multi-title FIFAe Next Gen event set to take place in Liverpool.
FIFAe, the esports division of the football governing body FIFA, has announced its inaugural multi-title football esports event to be held in Liverpool from August 28 to September 1. The event will feature two football-themed esports titles: Sports Interactive’s Football Manager and eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer.
To support the event, FIFAe has partnered with VisitLiverpool, which will serve as an official sponsor for FIFAe Next Gen 2024. The event will take place at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool.
The highlight of the event will be the FIFAe World Cup featuring Football Manager. For the first time, 20 managers will represent their nations and compete for a share of a $100,000 (~£78,000) prize pool. While the Football Manager World Cup was previously announced, some details have been adjusted as FIFAe aligns with stakeholders. Notably, the FIFAe World Cup featuring Rocket League, initially announced in June, will not be part of this event.
The Football Manager segment will also include additional content, with football YouTuber Spencer ‘SpencerFC’ Owen hosting a show on football tactics and Football Manager during the final two days. This show will be streamed across FIFAe channels.
In addition to the Football Manager World Cup, the event will feature the FIFAe Fame Your Game Cup, showcasing eFootball Mobile. Local players can compete in a qualifier on August 29 for a chance to play against top global players the following day.
Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the event, stating: “As a city that lives and breathes football, loves bringing people together, and relishes putting on big events, we’re thrilled to host the first FIFAe Next Gen event. We aim to establish Liverpool as a key destination for esports, boosting the local economy through tourism, hospitality, and retail.”
The participating countries for the Football Manager event are Belgium, England (with two teams as the host nation), France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Korea Republic, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey.
