Gen.G introduces the Next Gen Fellowship, a new US esports program for students.
Multinational esports organization Gen.G has announced the Next Gen Fellowship, a new remote student program aimed at giving US students insight into the esports and gaming industry.
This month-long program will provide participants with a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of an esports organization. It aims to educate students about various career opportunities in the field and offer networking opportunities. Each week, a different department within Gen.G will conduct educational sessions lasting at least five hours, giving students a comprehensive view of how a team functions.
At the end of the program, students will receive a $500 honorarium. Applications will be accepted from May 23rd to June 10th, with selections made by June 20th. The program will run from July 8th to August 2nd, with a final presentation on August 5th.
Gen.G has made significant investments in educational initiatives, particularly in the US. In addition to the Next Gen Fellowship, the organization has established the Gen.G Global Academy with locations in Seoul, Los Angeles, and Shanghai. It has also partnered with institutions like the University of Kentucky and Warwick University to further its educational outreach.
Commercially, Gen.G has developed strong partnerships with brands such as PUMA, Monster Energy, LG UltraGear, and Hyundai. The organization recently acquired YOUR.GG, a League of Legends data analysis and networking platform, to support both its professional players and academy students.
Additionally, Gen.G recently achieved competitive success by winning the League of Legends 2024 Mid-Season Invitational.
Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G, said: “Gen.G is committed to providing students and institutions with opportunities to explore careers in esports and gaming. The Next Gen Fellowship is an excellent way for students to gain initial exposure to our industry.
“We are excited to add this fellowship to our educational programs, including our support for the Gen.G Collegiate Network and our recent Campus Takeover event at the University of Kentucky.”
