The National Student Esports (NSE), the governing body for university esports in the UK, has announced a new partnership with the peripherals brand SteelSeries. As part of this collaboration, SteelSeries will serve as the official peripherals sponsor for the British University Esports Championship (BUESC) and will provide its Arctis Nova Series headsets for the championship’s 2025 finals.

SteelSeries will also be involved in NSE’s major competitive tournaments throughout the year and will supply merchandise to over 100 gaming and esports societies at their freshers’ fairs.

The British University Esports Championship, which began in 2018, is a major esports event focused on university teams, running across the academic year. Last semester, NSE reported that the event featured over 15,000 matches in games including VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Splatoon 3, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch 2, Dota 2, Apex Legends, CS2, and League of Legends.

In the 2023/24 season, Warwick University won the championship for the sixth consecutive year, with Swansea University and the University of Portsmouth securing second and third places, respectively.

SteelSeries joins NSE’s expanding roster of commercial partners, which includes Scan Computers, Monster Energy, UNiDAYS, Pringles, Intel, and iiyama. The specifics of the partnership’s duration have not been revealed.

Tony Trubridge, Global Esports Director at SteelSeries, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “We are dedicated to enhancing gamers’ experiences and are excited to support the next generation of esports talent. This partnership with NSE and the British University Esports Championship allows us to demonstrate our commitment to gaming and culture, and to provide students with the tools they need to excel. We look forward to a successful collaboration and the opportunity to see these talented students achieve their best.”
