KOLEX has unveiled a new print-on-demand and print-to-order collectible service designed to celebrate esports players and teams. This service aims to enhance fan engagement and create scalable revenue streams for esports organizations.

Set to launch later this financial quarter, the first products from this service will be showcased at Gamescom in Cologne, specifically at the SK Gaming booth. This follows KOLEX’s previous collaboration with SK Gaming, which resulted in the SK Gaming Signature Series Collection of trading cards introduced at Gamescom 2023.

The print-on-demand service will enable collectors to pre-order cards, which will be produced either as physical cards once the pre-order period concludes or as digital cards that can be printed on demand. This dual option is intended to address issues of paper waste and surplus duplicate cards that have plagued the card collecting industry.

Card collecting, a pastime dating back to the 17th century, has been driven by the pursuit of rare cards, the satisfaction of completing sets, and the sentimental value they hold. A 2022 study estimated the sports card industry to be valued at approximately $12.6 billion.

Since its inception in 2018, KOLEX has sought to merge traditional card collecting with the esports and popular culture markets through its platform, which integrates physical cards with an online experience featuring social features like quests and leaderboards. In 2022, KOLEX partnered with the ESL FACEIT Group to launch digital collectibles for Pro League teams.

Mark Donovan, Co-Founder and CEO of KOLEX, commented, “Every collectible represents a moment in time. We let teams and players choose which moments to celebrate and preserve. We envision these collectibles as the esports equivalent of iconic sports cards, serving as time capsules and keepsakes for future generations.”
